Fifth annual Anne Jackson memorial run/walk

Join us at the fifth annual Anne Jackson memorial run/walk on Saturday, September 14, 2013. This event, sponsored by Skagit Runners Association and held in memory of Deputy Anne Jackson, benefits the Humane Society of Skagit Valley. Dogs are welcome on our 2 mile walk at 9:15 am (or call the shelter and ask about walking one our friendly shelter pups!). 5K and 10K runs start at 9:30 am.

You may also pre-register by visiting or calling the shelter for further instructions.

Walkers can also register between 7 and 9 am on the day of the event. Registration fee of $22 benefits the shelter. There will be an awards ceremony for race winners, a "Top Dog" award for the highest pledge donation, and refreshments served at 11:30 am after the run/walk.

Participants who collect $50 or more in pledges receive a free t-shirt and free registration.

Hula over to the Bow Wow Meow Luau!

The Pawsitive Alliance Bow Wow Meow Luau is coming up this Sunday, June 2, at Denny's Pet World in Kirkland, WA, and HSSV will be there with pets galore! Come by for food, fun, prizes, same-day adoptions, and a lot of wet and whiskery kisses. Read on to see a map and event hours.

Open all weekend

HSSV will be open throughout Memorial Day weekend! We will have weekend hours on Monday.

See us this Saturday at Petsmart in Burlington

Outreach volunteers Karen and Bruce will be at the Burlington Petsmart this Saturday, May 25, with some adorable adoptables! Stop by to meet the pets, adopt a new friend, or just show your support for our wonderful pets and volunteers.

2013 Pet Adoptathon coming up!

The 2013 North Shore Animal League Pet Adoptathon kickoff is coming up on the weekend of June 1 and 2, and our shelter is one of 2500 in the nation participating! We will be at the Bow Wow Meow Luau in Kirkland, Washington on June 2nd, so hula on down and meet the next furry love of your life!

Pawsitive Alliance is hosting this all-day event for rescue groups from all over Washington. It will take place at Denny's Pet World, 12534 120th Ave NE. Click here to learn more.

Foster homes desperately needed

We currently have thirteen bottle babies in our orphaned kitten collection.
These infants range from newborn to several weeks of age and need feedings and cleanings every three to four hours—more care than our small staff can provide! We are very eager to enroll new volunteer foster parents. Volunteers who can make a six to 13 week commitment to a litter are needed to join our Kitten Foster Ambassadors team.

Please call the shelter today if you can help give our tiny babies a better start in life!

Congratulations to Aqua!

Aqua found a wonderful new family at the Wags & Whiskers event in Lynnwood!

A big thank you to Northpointe Animal Hospital for putting on the event, and an even bigger one to Aqua's new family which opened their home and hearts to this deserving dog! We had other good adoption news today, too . . . stay tuned for further updates.

Wags & Whiskers event in Alderwood

HSSV staff and pets will be in Alderwood this Sunday, May 19 for Wags & Whiskers, a pet adoption fair and block party sponsored by Northpoint Animal Hospital.

Business owners will be on hand with free food, raffles, prizes, and more! Come down to show your support for our deserving pets.

May 19th, 11 am to 2 pm, at Northpointe Animal Hospital (corner of Alderwood Mall Parkway and 164th St. in the Fred Meyer parking lot).

Bling for Our Furry Friends

On Saturday, May 18th, join us at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley from 11 am to 4 pm. This will be an afternoon of fun, fashion, and a chance to help the pets!
Jewelry will be on sale at prices ranging from $10 to $99, and 50% of proceeds will go directly toward helping the shelter pets. Designer Diana Anderson with Premier Designs is excited to help in this way, and we're looking forward to seeing you there!
